One Trip to the Genius Bar
March 5, 2008
So, I finally took my MacBook to the Apple store in Victoria Gardens in Rancho Cucamonga. (Gave you a lot of information there, didn’t I? LOL). Fortunately, the Genius Bar crew that was on shift were the guys I’ve worked with before when I had previous problems with my laptop. So I felt a lot more comfortable with who was going to assist me.
Diagnosis?
Well, here on my Work Authorization print out, it says verbatim:
SYMPTOMS: Harddrive failing – Able to backup user’s home folder to Bombardment (external Firewire drive)
STEPS TO REPRODUCE: Booted off known good OS – Finder cannot read drive. Drive reported multiple I/O errors.
RECOMMENDED ACTIONS: Replace HDD
Galen, the guy who was helping me, managed to get all my documents off the drive. So, I ended up leaving my MacBook there so he can complete the transfer and then replace the harddrive when the part comes in, which should be in the next 1-2 business days. Hopefuly, before the weekend! O_O Then afterwards, it’s time for me to reinstall EVERYTHING I need once again. *sigh* Ridiculous.
*thinks about purchasing Mac OS X Leopard 10.5*
….Nah? ……. Nahhhh.
So here I am, on the crappy desktop at work again… blogging. Like I said, since my laptop decided to give out I’ve been WordPress and Flickr whoring all over the place. Sometimes I’ll just lurk on Flickr if I need some type of interwebs entertainment.
Anyway, quick change of subject: it feels like the closer we get to the Smash tourney, my stomach goes upside-down. I dunno why I’m so nervous. I’m really nervous. Anything can happen, but everyone’s assuring me that I might be the one to win, if not get 2nd place. o_o” Anything can happen. I might getso nerve-wrecked that I’ll screw up during my match(es). I know! We can rig the brackets! LOL! Just kidding, that’s messed up. 50 people have “signed up” so far, but wel’l see who actually competes. It’ll be quite interesting.
It’s been a busy week for me, yeah? I mean, my HDD failing, and making two roundtrips to the Apple store between Riverside and Rancho Cucamonga, working on this Sugar-Honey-Iced-Tea computer in the office, having to make another roundtrip to the Apple store sooner that I know, Blizzard tour in Irvine, then Smash tourney prior the midnight sale for Super Smash Bros. Brawl for the Nintendo Wii. I gotta squeeze in getting my car washed and an oil change for my car, on top of getting my brake pads replaced. Fun stuff? Fun stuff.
